My foundation of my technique is drawn from the Classical tradition of painting. The painters I find inspirational are Da Vinci, Rembrandt, Michelangelo, Titian, Turner, Whistler, and Monet. Modern painters I draw inspiration from are Rothko, Gerhard Richter, Brice Marden, Basquiat, Fatu Feu’u, and Warhol to name a few.
Artistically I favor both Classical and Modern Abstract painting using Oil, Acrylic and in my Sketches I like to use Black Ink and Charcoal.
The surface is Board, Belgium Linen and 12 oz. Canvas, Paper and anything else I can lay my hands on.
The subject matter is Landscape painting in the Classical Romantic tradition.
Balancing this Classical Romantic side is Modern Abstraction. This has come about because of the need for rotation while Oil canvases were drying. I am also quietly moving into Portraiture as well.
The scale of work I am currently exploring is from 12"x 24" to 64"x 86" and larger depending on available studio space and whether I can actually get it out of the door or not!
